What is better? I have been a firefox user for some time. I must say, I like it a lot better than internet explorer. Both are free, so price is not a factor. Some of the benefits of firefox include: tabbed browsing, it doubles as an rss reader, standards compliant, etc.
Unfortunately, there are still some sites that exist that really don't work that well in anything except internet explorer. Most of these site can be tracked back to microsoft. Some of these sites include: www.microsoft.com, msdn.microsoft.com (until recently), any outlook web access, etc.
I suppose one of the best reasons for using firefox is it is open source and developed by a large community. Updates and improvements are frequent and not motivated by an alterior motive such as integration into an operating system or application (i.e. ms office).
I like using the rss reader functionality available in the live bookmarks. It is quick and convenient. I also like the way passwords and history are managed. From what I am aware of firefox, unlike internet explorer, does not have a master dat file that tracks months of history that cannot be cleared out. At least not without extra steps and software. If anyone knows otherwise, I would be interested in hearing about it.
